PRESIDENT & CURATOR
Arica Hilton was born on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. She studied architecture and design and has worked as an artist, poet, gallerist, interior designer, art publisher since 1985. HILTON | ASMUS CONTEMPORARY was a natural progression in Arica's 30-year career in the art world.
In addition to her extensive background in various facets of the art world, Arica has worked with clients in major design renovations, facilitating the sale and purchase of their homes, curating art collections and designing furniture. In the meantime, she silently worked on a successful career as an international artist and poet with exhibitions of her work throughout Europe, Asia and North America.
Forging business relationships throughout Europe and Asia has furnished her with a global perspective. Arica was one of the first women pioneers in setting up an American art publishing company that yielded millions of dollars by doing international trade with Japan in the early to mid 1990's.
Arica lives and works in Chicago. Until recently, she was the president of the board of the Poetry Center of Chicago and was voted one of the LIT 50: Who Really Books in Chicago 2011 by New City. Her works have been featured in Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, Crain's Chicago Business, Huffington Post, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Chicago Social, Chicago Magazine, Astronomy Magazine, Fine Art Magazine, Art World News, The Examiner, DNA INFO, Windy City Times.
Arica's personal interests include triathlons, scuba diving, yoga, Argentine tango, human rights, animal rights, conservation and global affairs. She speaks fluent English & Turkish and is semi fluent in French/Spanish.
Kate grew up in Baltimore, MD. She received her B.A. in Studio Art at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. Shortly after graduation in 2011, she moved to Richmond where her focus was in marketing. Kate moved to Chicago in the spring of 2015 to experience a bigger city and new opportunities and is now an integral part of Hilton Asmus Contemporary.
Safa was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts as a Stage Technician. He has also worked for various film projects and TV commercials as a line producer and a cinematographer. Safa's essays and articles have been published in Trendsetter Magazine (Istanbul) and Alarm Magazine (Chicago) under his pen name: Ahlapot.
Safa holds a B.A. in Film from Marmara University and M.A.M. from Columbia College in Chicago. He is fluent in English and Turkish.
As a Senior at Columbia College Chicago, Sara is very passionate with all of her work. She aspires to be a videographer/ photographer and editor at one of Chicago's network stations and recently won her first Emmy Award. She can be seen camera armed, ready to capture the moment. When not filming or taking pictures, she works as a student engineer through Columbia College's TV department or can be seen editing videos at the Hilton | Asmus Contemporary.
