CAMEKAN - a Collaboration of Two Turkish Artists
GAMZE ARAZ ESKINAZI (1970 - ) YASEMIN SAYINSOY (1966 - ) Gamze Araz Eskinaz and Yasemin Sayinsaoy met in 2003 at the Glass Furnace Foundation while learning blowing technics of hot glass. They took several courses together and in 2005 Gamze’s brother Serkan Araz recommended and supported them to produce glassworks under their own brand CAMEKAN. They are mentioned as the first female glass blowers in Turkey while they were trying to use the craft of glass blowing to transform their art. They began the first glass blowing workshops for beginners at the Glass Furnace Foundation in 2008, In 2009, Gamze and Yasemin had an invitation from Finland to illustrate the contemporary glass art. Paşabahçe sponsored them to perform in this exhibition called "Glass in Turkey". In 2010 they were honored by the Turkish Cultural Foundation to present their works at SOFA CHİCAGO. Gamze and Yasemin began to teach glass blowing in 2011 at Turkeys' first fine arts university Mimar Sinan. While doing commission works like international airport Sabiha Gökçen vip lounge in İstanbul, they try to raise awareness to recycling and environmental subjects by designing and producing projects as well.
