CHANAZELIG (American - )
Chana Zelig is a Chicago artist and writer who blends words, images, allusions, language and color in her paintings and stained glass and textile synagogue installations. Guided by her belief that unique insight happens in the joining of different forms of communication, Chana creates a visual poetry of Judaic imagery and Hebraic scholarship with associations across artistic and intellectual disciplines, cultural narratives, and her inner life and impressions. Her lively compositions of pictures and text draw the viewer in to discover levels of detail and meaning. Chana’s integrative spirit infuses the celebrated arts salon she founded, hosts and curates, which features readings and performances by noted poets, authors, musicians, historians, journalists, scientists, photographers, filmmakers, playwrights, visual and theater artists, as well as her own writing. She is a member of Images Gallery Cooperative in Chicago. |
