Hilton Asmus Contemporary has invited three emerging artists to join three established artists in a group exhibition highlighting the synchronicity, the diversity and culture of Chicago to inaugurate the winter season.
All of the artists are either from or have been living in Chicago for a number of years. The title of the exhibition is taken form a photomontage created by Gail Mancuso. She states, "Chicago - Synchronicity is about diversity, the community, the vitality of our city. At its core it’s a celebration of life as it represents the individuality of humanity and how our differences and distinct attributes meld together to create a universal story. It’s a presentation of how we all walk together in life. The synchronicity of life. I am in you and you are in me. We are all interconnected, fused together in the journey, whether we are aware of it or not. Our every thought and purpose exposes our collective vulnerability as reality is knit together behind the scenes. Our personal interpretations influence each other and our dreams are driven with each other in mind. This is how we rule the world, how we set things into motion."

THE EMERGING ARTISTS:
Gail Mancuso: Focusing on architecture and design, nature and human forms, her works are so dimensional that it is difficult to count the layers that begin to seep into your view. Her wide range of techniques culminate in a composition that is abstract, yet all at once recognizable. Gail Mancuso's photomontage is a collection of more than 420 photographs taken over several months. She walked the city's streets and chronicled a broad range of people to create a captured moment that will become part of the history.
Manolis Tzortzakakis: (informally known as Manolis): A new resident to Chicago from Athens, Greece, Manolis Tzortzakakis (informally know as Manolis) has recorded his profound emotions as a young immigrant coming to America.
D.E. Soderstrom: painterly depictions of Midwestern forests, lakes and skies by native of Elgin, Illinois photographer.

ESTABLISHED ARTISTS:
Peter Sorel: from "Hollywood to Chicago" fame will introduce a new series of "Lake Michigan" images.
John W. Clark: Louis Sullivan's architectural ornaments will be reinterpreted by the architect and artist .
Arica Hilton: In preparation for her invitation to participate EUROPALIA, a biennale held in Brussels, Belgium, will introduce her latest "I Flow Like Water" series.

As Mancuso concludes, "There is incredible beauty in our extraordinary city of Chicago. From the energy and serenity of the lake, to the the breathtaking architectural skyline, our city epitomizes the creativity, strength and intelligence that we behold each and every day. Yet, there is no doubt that cities can be stressful places, with its share of pressures. There can be pollution, poverty, safety concerns, and lack of personal space. Yet for those of us who live here, there's a strong sense of community, a sort of joining forces, unified tolerance, an underlying feeling that we are all in this together.
"CHICAGO - SYNCHRONICITY" opens Friday, January 9 at Hilton Asmus Contemporary. All artists will be present.
