The intimacy that Jason Dorsey is able to disclose in his photography provides the viewer with a sense of belonging, as though we too are his subjects. He is also able to translate his love for Chicago flawlessly in the profound glimpses of the city that he captures. Both of these principles intersect in COMMUNITY, which details the Chicago BLM protests of 2020. Within Humanity, this image highlights the complicated feelings of contention as well as unity in the face of political controversy. It is simultaneously a moment of struggle and connectivity, a gesture of togetherness that is defined by opposition.
