![]() THE SEASON OF BODY & SOUL The holiday season and the end of 2012 is upon us. Many of the holidays and feasts associated with the end of the year are all spiritual experiences to show gratitude and to appreciate our loved ones, family, friends and all that we have. To honor this season, Hilton|Asmus Contemporary is preparing two shows. The first, opening on November 2nd, is COLORS OF OM, by Cuban-American artist, Rick Garcia. The three time official artist of the GRAMMY AWARDS and "ABSOLUT Artist of the 90's," will be flying in to Chicago from his native Miami to share with us his mixture of dazzling images inspired by his Cuban heritage, combined with a series of paintings on meditation in his American pop-art style. This will be his first exhibition in Chicago in 15 years! The second show, BODY & SOUL, opens on December 12. It is about paying homage to the quietude and spirituality that tends to come to play towards the end of the year, when we begin to reassess all that has happened in the past and the changes we need or want to make in the future. The exhibition is a collaboration between Hilton | Asmus Contemporary and Jennifer Norback Fine Art. The show will feature paintings, poetry & video by Arica Hilton, paintings & sculpture by Rene Romero Schuler, and jewelry by Tammy Kohl. Arica and Tammy had recently collaborated on WHERE STARS ARE BORN, an exhibition of paintings and jewelry inspired by the Hubble Telescope images of the nebulas, the clouds of dust and gases where stars are actually born! More information on this show is soon to follow..... To read more about Rick Garcia's exhibition, click here.

Diaries and Faces introduces Dalip Kryeziu to Chicago!! ![]() October 5th was a novel experience for many of the Hilton | Asmus guests. The city of Chicago gave Dalip a very warm welcome, while his faces adorning the walls of the gallery welcomed guests right back. Our space was filled with many of Dalip's expressionist portraits, unraveling the unconscious for a memorable interpretation. Each piece had the ability to stop an individual dead in his or her tracks and a number of these people were hypnotized by the ambiguity of each painting. The colors of Dalip's works are visceral, bouncing off the canvas and attracting even people only walking past the gallery. The moment you walk in, you are immersed in a world uniquely Dalip and more specifically, his 79 by 55 inches portrait of 'Father' and equally mystifying portrait of 'Son' hung directly in the middle of the gallery. Each piece is heavy with sentiment and thought that individuals thrive to tap into as they experienced the whole exhibition. Friends and family of the Hilton | Asmus were thrilled to meet an international artist, such as Dalip and were both curious about his style and art. Conversations about his aesthetic, culture, and inspirations reverberated throughout the gallery and it was indeed, a night perfect for art lovers. DALIP COMES TO CHICAGO!!!! ![]() On Friday, October 5th, Hilton | Asmus Contemporary will be hosting Dalip Kryeziu's premier exhibition in Chicago! Dalip flies in from Frankfurt/Main, Germany on Wednesday to prepare for his opening on Friday evening with his assistant, and fellow artist, Joachim Hutterer. Dalip is a well known artist in with galleries and collectors in Austria, Germany and Denmark and has consistently proven to be the collector's choice with his post modern lyricism. His palette combines elements of abstract expressionism mixed with post modern, avant garde strokes of color that plunges deep into the subconscious. His favorite artist, Jean Dubuffet, brought him up from the machinations of Art Brut to hints of George Baselitz, Picasso and Cy Twombly, all rolled into one canvas. In the end, Dalip’s paintings are supremely Dalip. His mind, like his art, is an obsessive study in feeling and being an “artiste.” Dalip Kryeziu was born 18 June 1964 in Bubavec/Kosovo. He uses his first name Dalip as his pen-name. His childhood was spent in a large rural extended tribal family. After elementary school, his entire family moved to Klina where he attended secondary school. From the age of 11, Dalip began to draw under the influence of his uncle, an academic painter. During a summer stay in Porec he met with a portrait painter who strengthened his decision to become an artist. After his education at the teacher training college in Gjakova and the English University in Prishtina, he traveled throughout Europe earning his living with portraiture. ![]() In 1988 Dalip moved to Austria and soon after acquired Austrian citizenship. In 1989 he became a Member of the Association of Austrian Painters. Two years later he was shown in various exhibitions in Austria and soon thereafter in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Salzburg. Dalip’s work has been represented in many international Exhibitions such as the Biennale Internazionale dell`Arte Contemporanea in Florence 1997, the “Arte Fiera Cornice“ in Venice 2007 and the Prague Biennale 2009. His energetic style has garnered him recognition by collectors and museums throughout Europe. Since 2006, Dalip has lived in Frankfurt am Main. His work is in the following collections: Museum der Moderne Salzburg Oberhessisches Museum Gießen Guggenheim Foundation Allianz Hamburg Deutsche Bank Crédit Suisse |
