HILTON | ASMUS COMTEMPORARY
 in collaboration with

JENNIFER NORBACK FINE ART & ADDINGTON GALLERY
presents “BODY & SOUL PART II"
featuring paintings, poetry, video & sculptures by TURKISH-AMERICAN artists
ARICA HILTON, BELGIN YÜCELEN, ÇETIN ATEŞ
and jewelry by TAMMY KOHL.

Opening reception FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
HILTON | ASMUS CONTEMPORARY presents BODY & SOUL, a collaborative effort with neighboring galleries, JENNIFER NORBACK FINE ART and ADDINGTON GALLERY.

HILTON | ASMUS will feature SOUL by three Turkish-American artists: paintings, poetry & video by Arica Hilton, bronze sculptures by Belgin Yücelen and honed metal sculpture by Çetin Ateş. Jewelry artist TAMMY KOHL will display her interpretations of SOUL in wearable designs with precious and semi-precious stones.

The exhibition at JENNIFER NORBACK Fine art will feature BODY, paintings by Cindy Bernhard, Rene Romero Schuler, and William Utermohlen, and photography by Patti Bartelstein.

Dan Addington, owner of ADDINGTON GALLERY will feature his own work, which often includes combinations of anatomical imagery, memorial sculpture, romantic symbolism, and religious iconography

The three galleries explore a dialog between these inexorably entwined aspects of the human condition through the underlying relationship between the realm of spirit and the physical aspects of the world we live in.  The artists dance between the worlds of the known and the unknown, the tangible and intangible, and the age-old relationship between flesh and spirit.

Part II Reception: January 11 (5:00 to 9:00 pm)

Highlights from the show:  featured artist, Hilton, displays her post-luministic landscapes of poetry-inspired universes, skyscapes and rainscapes, but diverts her course with a chandelier-like mirrored installation of “SOUL” and a video installation on love, soul and the true meaning of wealth, “THE SPIRIT of ECSTASY.”   Yücelen’s bronze of a man gazing at his own reflection in a pool of water, is simple and aptly named, “Reflection.”  Ateş’s “Courage of the Shadow” is a man, feeling the weight of the world as his strong and straight shadow, his daimon, stands behind him, with the railroad tracks of life in the background.

HILTON | ASMUS CONTEMPORARY is located in Chicago’s River North Art District featuring established and emerging Chicago-based artists, as well as internationally established artists from Northern Europe, the Mediterranean Region such as Turkey, Greece, Italy, and the Middle East.  For more information, please visit www.hiltonasmus.com

“BODY & SOUL” will run from Friday, December 12th, 2012 through Friday, January 25th, 2013 at Hilton | Asmus Contemporary, 716 N. Wells, Chicago, IL 60654.
