The Ruler #1 and #2

Ink on Paper | Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
24 x 36 in

Søren Thielemann (Born 1970) is a Danish-born, abstract artist living in Chicago.
With a background in graphic design, Søren’s art is created around conceptual ideas with layers of messages and symbolism. What might appear as humorous doodles are often reflections of current social- and political issues in our society. Typical themes are social injustice, corporate greed, women’s empowerment and religion.
His art is often referred to as “doodles” because of its fun, whimsical styles and shapes, which is inspired by his childhood passion for cartoons. The style can be interpreted as a rebellious contrast to the linear and mathematical shapes you see in his graphic design, but gives the art balance and symmetry.
Soren works in ink, oil, acrylic, and gouache on a variety of surfaces, including murals.

"In chess, the King might be the most important, but as in our society, with women's true sexual power, the Queen reigns superior in every way. Bow to her."
